Founded in 1993, the Empire City Men’s Chorus is celebrating its 17th season of performances in New York City. ECMC was initially formed by members of the gay community who were interested in creating a male chorus featuring an eclectic multilingual repertoire of predominantly classical music. For the past 17 years, the ECMC has consistently presented concerts which boast a wide variety of well-known composers and newly commissioned works with a classical sensibility.
The Chorus rehearses Tuesdays from 7-10pm on the Upper West Side of Manhattan at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament which is located at 152 West 71st St New York, NY between Broadway and Columbus Avenue. Chorus dues apply. Scholarships are available.
Auditions are by appointment only. You may schedule an audition by e-mailing ecmcpresident@yahoo.com, or by leaving a phone message at (212) 545-4110. Please prepare a short classical piece (with piano accompaniment or a capella – an accompanist will be available) and be prepared to sight read. We audition for T1, T2, B1, and B2 voice parts at the beginning of each season.
The Empire City Men’s Chorus is a member of Chorus America.
